Chauncey Billups

On PTI yesterday, Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser said odds should be about 70% that Chauncey Billups leaves the Pistons for another team this summer. They said the Pistons imploded, and Chauncey will want to get out. I just hate when people make wild statements with no logical basis behind it.

Look, there could be a chance Chauncey doesnt come back, but its very small. What Wilbon and Kornheiser implied is that Chauncey wants out, and doesnt want to be part of the Pistons organization anymore. That is totally false, and the PTI guys are wrong for assuming this. Chauncey is happy being in Detroit as it is where his career exploded to the national spotlight. He definitely wants to stay, with all things being equal. He even said after the elimination to Cleveland that the Pistons were still better than the Cavs, and that he still believed in his guys. Assuming a fair offer is made by Joe Dumars, which is probable, I cant see how Chauncey would leave.

Terry Foster had a terrific interview with the Billups' today. Good quotes from Chauncey's wife, Piper, and the family saying how they are established and dont want to go anywhere. http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070626/SPORTS0102/706260396/1127
